Drop Camera and CTD Probe
High-definition Seafloor Video and Water Parameter Collection
Osedax can provide the ability to record video of the bottom of marine and freshwater environments with a drop camera. A pair of very bright and wide-angle LED lights illuminate anything in the camera’s field of view. Scale lasers are attached to the unit, and can be adjusted for distance between the points. There is also an Ultraviolet laser which fluoresces on certain biological organisms, as well as hydrocarbons.
Along with the drop camera, a Hydrolab Probe can be added to record several parameters. These include dissolved oxygen, salinity, pH, temperature and depth.
This equipment is deployed using our lightweight and transportable winch, to a maximum depth of 70 meters (230 feet). That is 30 meters (98 feet) deeper than a Commercial SCUBA Diver can go to. Any vessel with a davit or A-frame can be used to run the winch and equipment. For jobs requiring a smaller vessel in more shallow waters, we also have a hand line. The hand line can be used to depths of 31 meters (100 feet). On the hand line, the drop camera, one LED light, and Hydrolab Probe can be run.
